project 2——Website Redesign Prototype
A brief writeup in your E-Portfolio of (500–800 words) outlining the key features of the prototype, any design decisions made during development, and how the prototype addresses the objectives set in the redesign proposal.
In this web design project, the main goal was to create a modern, user-friendly and visually appealing website that effectively communicates the core message of animal protection. The purpose of the redesign was not only to enhance aesthetics, but also functionality and user engagement. Below is an overview of the prototype's key features, the design decisions made during development, and how these elements aligned with the goals set out in the redesign proposal.
First, I redesigned the site's logo to better reflect the theme of animal protection. The updated logo now incorporates images of rhinos, elephants, gorillas, and leopards that directly relate to the concept of wildlife conservation. This subtle yet impactful change reinforces the site's mission and makes its purpose immediately clear to visitors.
Next, I focused on optimizing the user interface for a more intuitive experience. The navigation structure was simplified to ensure users could easily find what they were looking for. A clean, easy-to-use navigation bar was designed, as well as a separate menu to direct users to the content they needed. By reducing visual clutter, this improvement helps provide a smoother browsing experience, especially for first-time visitors. The simplified layout also helps users focus on key information without unnecessary distractions.
To enhance user interaction, I included eye-catching call-to-action buttons throughout the site, such as the “Learn More” button. These buttons stand out for their use of bright orange, a color chosen for its effectiveness in attracting attention. The contrast between the orange color and the neutral background tone ensures that important elements are easily noticed while maintaining a visually balanced design.
Additionally, I added social media sharing buttons to encourage users to spread the site's content across various platforms. This feature will not only increase user engagement, but also help raise awareness of the animal protection program.
A central aspect of the redesign was the decision to focus on a modern, clean aesthetic while ensuring easy navigation. I chose a color palette that included beige, dark brown, orange and green to create harmony and contrast. Orange is the main call-to-action color, ensuring that key buttons (such as “Learn More”) capture the user's attention. Green and beige have natural and calming tones that complement the orange and emphasize the site's connection to nature and wildlife conservation.
In terms of typography, I chose a simple yet elegant font to improve readability and convey a high-end, professional feel. This ensured that the content was easy to read on all devices, while also fostering trust and credibility.
The redesigned prototype successfully achieved its goals of improving the user experience, increasing interactivity and reinforcing the site's animal protection message. By simplifying navigation and creating a visually engaging layout, the design improves usability and ensures visitors can easily access information related to wildlife conservation. Simple content presentation prevents information overload and makes it easier for users to understand and engage with the cause.
The inclusion of social media sharing buttons and prominent call-to-action phrase buttons further encourage user interaction and help raise awareness and support for animal conservation efforts. Additionally, the updated color scheme and imagery reinforce the message of wildlife conservation. The animal-related visuals and unassuming color palette effectively communicate the site's mission, creating an emotional connection with visitors and inspiring them to take action.
Overall, the prototype met the goals outlined in the redesign proposal by combining a modern, visually appealing aesthetic with functional features. The design not only enhances the user experience, but also helps further the site's animal protection mission by providing a platform that is both engaging and effective in communicating its core message.
